HONORARY MEMBERS

Einojuhani Rautavaara (1928–2016) has been an important composer for the Helsinki Chamber Choir, who regularly perform his choral works. As the Finnish Radio Chamber Choir, the choir recorded Rautavaara's complete a cappella choral works for the Ondine label to international acclaim in the 1990s. The choir has also founded a choral composition competition carrying Rautavaara’s name. In November 2007 the choir elected the composer as its honorary member.

Composer Kimmo Hakola was Artistic Director for the Helsinki Chamber Choir from 2005 to 2007 and an important supporter in the development of Finland’s only professional chamber choir. The choir has also premiered all of Hakola’s choral works. In November 2007 the choir elected the composer as its honorary member.
