PERTTU HAAPANEN: Kodecs/Codecs (world premiere of the version for mixed choir) 25’
Farewell to life, farewell to the dead, farewell to an unsustainable way of life. Works by Finnish composers reflect a broad take on the theme, from victims of the war to climate change.
Tapio Tuomela’s composition has been commissioned by Helsinki Chamber Choir, Musicatreize and Tenso, the European network for professional chamber choirs. Perttu Haapanen’s work was originally composed for female choir, electronics and video and is now premiered in a version for mixed choir. The world premiere of a work written by Juhani Vesikkala (who is also a singer in the choir) completes the programme. The virtuoso piece draws from 17th century lute music in a farewell atmosphere. The concert is conducted by versatile conductor and singer Jutta Seppinen.
Tickets: 10 € in Ticketmaster and 8,50 € at the Music Centre Ticket sales.
The duration of the concert is approx. 50 minutes. We focus especially on safety. Only a limited number of tickets will be sold. Performers and audience will maintain distancing in accordance with the latest research on safety in choral performance and the public is encouraged to wear face masks.
