Audition for the Helsinki Chamber Choir, 19 September 2025

The Helsinki Chamber Choir is seeking singers for its artist roster in all voice parts. Applicants are expected to have formal vocal training as well as experience in contemporary music and ensemble/choir singing. Singers are engaged on a project-by-project basis. Rehearsals are typically held on weekdays from 14:30 to 17:30, though they may also take place at other times.

Audition date: Friday, 19 September 2025, 13:00–16:30
Location: Helsinki (exact location to be announced later)

The audition consists of two rounds. In the first round, applicants will perform a solo piece and a quick study piece:
- Solo piece: The panel wishes to hear repertoire that demonstrates the skills required for chamber choir singing. A suitable choice might be a Lied, an art song, or a Baroque aria. A pianist will be provided by the choir; please bring sheet music in the correct key. Please prepare two solo pieces, the jury will choose to hear one or both.
- Quick study piece, which will be sent to you via email 24 hours before the audition (to be sung solo; you may use an A from a tuning fork or piano).

Applicants selected for the second round will perform additional choir excerpts and sing in a quartet:
- Choir excerpts – Selected excerpts will be sent to invited applicants along with the audition invitation.
- Singing in a quartet – The music will be emailed one week prior to the audition.
