(Innere Grenze) (1986-1987)

The Musica nova Helsinki festival ends with a grand finale in which two composers engage in introspection and dialogue with time, space and infinity. Innere Grenze by Wolfgang Rihm uses a text by Friedrich Nietzsche and places musicians around the hall. Hans Abrahamsen’s cult piece Schnee addresses the eternal problem of question and answer.

Concert will be broadcast on Yle Radio 1 on Thu 26 Feb 2015 7.03 pm

The lines of each section of the choir were straight and clear, as if played by instruments, and yet soft and flexible, supporting an unbroken sense of breathing. Each group sang with pure intonation and the resonance between the voices took on a life of its own, so that the whole space was filled with ringing colours.
