The Nordic Music Days are an annual festival presenting the most exciting new music from the five Nordic countries. As the Helsinki Chamber Choir brings the 2013 edition of the festival to a close, the winter nights are lengthening inexorably. Dusk can be a metaphor, as well as a phenomenon of the light.  We are all subject to nature and natural forces, but people and cultures deal with them in different ways. The renowned Kaspars Putnins, making his debut with the choir, conducts six works that illustrate the diversity of choral music being written today.

The 23-strong Finnish chorus was an unbeatable exponent of this piece [Rautavaara's Vigilia], showing not only their technical discipline but also a breathtaking range of sonorities.
