A Christmas concert with a difference: alongside well-known Finnish seasonal music, the Helsinki Chamber Choir concludes its celebration of Einojuhani Rautavaara’s 85th birthday year with a performance of his second great religious choral work, the Missa a cappella. There is more Rautavaara in the second half of the concert: Our Joyful’st Feast was premiered in this same space by the same performers five years ago to the day. Ever-popular motets by Johann Sebastian Bach round out a programme that promises a moment of peaceful introspection amid the Christmas rush and is guaranteed to send you home with a warm glow inside!

Tickets:
18 € / pensioners 15 € / other concessions 6 €

The lines of each section of the choir were straight and clear, as if played by instruments, and yet soft and flexible, supporting an unbroken sense of breathing. Each group sang with pure intonation and the resonance between the voices took on a life of its own, so that the whole space was filled with ringing colours.
